Practical information

Classes and Timetables

We provide a personalized education with a maximum of 14 pupils per class. The timetable is organized so that students engage in activities relevant to their age and group, whilst also reflecting appropriate language.

There is an equal balance of French and English over the school year for all groups. This consists of work in language groups and subject classes in both French and English.

A choice of excursions have been integrated into the curriculum : trips to the theatre, museums, exhibitions and any place relevant to a class project.

Students are welcomed each day at 08.45 – a paid childcare service (see below) is available from 08.30. Classes are held for four and a half days per week : 09.00 to 16.00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 09.00 to 12.00 on Wednesday.

Sport

BIS students have weekly access to municipal facilities, including an Olympic pool nearby. Within our own premises, pupils benefit from coordination exercises and team games.

Bordeaux also offers many sporting activities that students have the opportunity to practice outside of school time.

Appropriate clothing is required for students during their sport lessons (Friday).

Meals

The school works with a caterer who provides the majoirty of the schools in Bordeaux with balanced meals. Lunches are served in the cafeteria, supervised by teachers, so that children can learn to share a meal quietly, with children from other classes and other backgrounds. The children are encouraged to speak in English on the English speaking days and French on the French speaking days (2 days in English and 2 days in French per week).

Child-Minding Service

The Child-Minding Service (garderie) is a paid service which is available every day, except Wednesday, from 08.30 to 08.45 and from 16.15 to 17.15.
